Pressure switches are critical components in pneumatic, hydraulic, and process control systems. They monitor system pressure and activate or deactivate electrical circuits when preset pressure thresholds are reached. What Is a Pressure Switch?

A pressure switch is an electromechanical device that detects pressure changes in a fluid or gas system. When the pressure crosses a predefined limit (either high or low), the switch opens or closes an electrical contact, triggering an alarm, activating a compressor, or shutting down machinery.


Working Principle

  1. Sensing Element: Detects the pressure in the system. This is often a diaphragm, piston, or bourdon tube.

  2. Actuation Mechanism: Moves in response to pressure changes.

  3. Electrical Contacts: Open or close depending on the position of the actuator, controlling the connected electrical circuit.
